A top-floor apartment with an existing staircase leading to a single room and a large rooftop terrace.
The first stage—before redesigning the apartment to suit the family’s needs—was to obtain permits for expanding the construction onto the roof. Once approved, I sat down with the couple to create a detailed program, mapping out all their requirements and dreams for their new home.
Part of the first-floor layout was allocated to a rental unit, as agreed upon in the building’s division plan. Today, the homeowners enjoy full and constant occupancy of this unit, thanks to its generous size, attractive design, and smart planning.
For the main apartment, the couple’s priorities were clear: two spacious kitchens (including a dedicated Passover kitchen), a wide and welcoming living room, a study near the entrance, a guest room with an ensuite bath, and a guest powder room. All of these functions were incorporated into the first level.
The existing staircase was reimagined with a fresh design and clad in modern, original materials, leading up to the second floor. To the right, a private wing was designed for the couple, featuring a home office and fitness area that opens onto a lush, carefully landscaped terrace. From here, one enters the elegant master bedroom, complete with a stylish bathroom, walk-in closet, and access to a personal, inviting balcony.
On the left side of the upper floor, a family room opens onto another terrace. From this area, there is access to a laundry room connected to the same terrace, and then a passageway leading to three thoughtfully designed children’s rooms—each tailored to hold every essential, beloved, and nostalgic item. A well-planned bathroom completes this section, balancing comfort and style.
The result is a unique, character-filled apartment—an original design that beautifully merges the couple’s slightly different tastes into one cohesive vision: a seamless meeting of vintage charm and modern style.
